That is the main reason why we, the SATARAK TEAM, went for a visit to NGO BLESSINGS and educated women and children from economically poor backgrounds about their rights and responsibilities.
OUR AIM AND PURPOSE
Education is fundamental to an equitable society. An excellent education equips children and youth with the knowledge, skills, values and mindsets needed to be empowered individuals and responsible citizens.
Consumer education and awareness support consumers in their attempts to organize their everyday lives in a sustainable way and it creates understanding of their role as actors in the economic system and how and to what extent they can influence the economy, the environment and the society through their individual consumer behaviour to create a better society for all of us.
It is concerned with educating people with the skills, attitudes, and knowledge required for living in a consumer society.
It is concerned with educating people with the skills, attitudes, and knowledge required for living in a consumer society.
In a country like India, despite numerous efforts, consumer protection and consumerism is still in at infancy, given the scenario of economic disparity and level of education and ignorance, educating consumers, remains a gigantic task. This calls for concerted efforts from every one.
RESULT AND OBSERVATIONS
We went beyond our comfort zones to fill this gap of brightness of knowledge and darkness of ignorance.
The audience was able to :
- know the meaning of a consumer, goods and services and consumer awareness;
- understand the need for consumer awareness;
- realise the rights and responsibilities of consumers;
- understand the procedures for filing the complaints in the consumer courts;
The kind of questions that came up at the end of session made it even more interactive and knowledge-providing. The spark of getting acquainted with new things and information could be seen in the eyes of those women and children.
