Be Aware While Using ATMs



Automated Teller Machine, ATM , is one of the most widely used source to withdraw immediate cash especially during emergencies because of its 24 hrs availability.

ATMs are convenient and allow consumers to perform quick self-service transactions such as deposits cash withdrawals, bill payments, and transfers between accounts.

It enables customer to withdraw cash ,up to a certain limit, during any time - day or night.

Nowadays, ATMs are located at convenient places, such as airports, railway stations, etc., and not just necessarily at the bank's premises.

But , are you cautious while using it?

Here are some of the things which you should keep in mind while withdrawing cash from ATMs :-

Firstly , before entering ATM chamber , make sure that no one is around , not even your friends or relatives since ATM-PIN is really crucial and must be kept a secret .

Use ATM only when the guard is present outside the chamber .

After the withdrawal of cash , feel completely okay to press the cancel button once , twice or thrice, until you are sure .

If you feel that any stranger is keeping an eye on you then try to avoid cash withdrawal at that time as that person may hurt you physically . Safety is utmost important.

Never share or write your OTP to anyone or anywhere , respectively . If you forget your pin easily then you may write it somewhere but keep it securely with yourself only .

ATM has great advantages but as said ," In every seed of good , there is also a piece of bad ", so it has its demerits too. Some of which are :

1. Frauds by fitting skimming devices and small cameras on ATMs.

2. Theft Risks

3. Card Retention

Although , ATMs have been changing over time and the machine’s technology is becoming more sophisticated as to provide the best experience to the users and make transactions safer and secure but they are very beneficial only when used with precautions.

It is the need of hour for customers to be aware or else they might get trapped under the false net of fraud or looting .

Precaution is always better than cure so, Be aware! Be safe !
