SATARK, The Consumer Club of P.G.D.A.V. College, was
launched in 2011 and is a constituent of Consumers Forum, a non -profit organization
registered in 1980, under Government of India society’s registration act, 1860.
Consumer awareness is a nugget. Many
consumers are avid buying new products but they are not aware that they can be
deluded. Satark
looks forward to spreading consumer awareness among people that is an
understanding by an individual about their rights as a consumer, concerning
available products. The concept contains four categories namely safety, choice,
information and the right to be heard.
Getting back to the works of the society, each year, with the constant support of our Principal sir and the staff, there are a lot of
knowledge sharing sessions organised, many presentations are prepared and portrayed to the audience so
as to influence them and make them aware of their rights. The discussions are
made more interesting when debate becomes a part of it, it also helps people in
knowing about the pros and cons of the matter discussed and make the sessions attractive. With the help of our honorable Advisor Dr. Vandana Aggarwal and Convener Ms. Sakshi
Verma, Satark organized various sessions last year. On 25 September, a session
on GST was held which gave the vast knowledge and good understanding about GST.
A quiz was also organized on GST which influenced the students and coordinator
to discover more about GST. An
interactive atmosphere was maintained to ensure maximum involvement of the audience.
The winners were also awarded interesting prizes. Satark celebrated World
Consumer Rights day and organised a debate competition on 'Are online
transactions safer?' on 22nd February 2018. This event was adjudged by Dr Shuchi
Pahuja and Monika Saini. Also, we held an
E - Waste collection drive which proved to be a big success with the collection
of almost 50 kgs of waste material. Other events like inter college debate on
online transaction, research on energy drinks - its benefits and side effects, etc.
were also conducted.
As a new semester begins, we are ready to embark on a new
journey and add more to the previous years' success with the guidance of our two new faculty members, Ms. Aparna Datt and Ms. Nisha Goel. Some of the future prospects of the society include visit to NGO’s , consumer courts, open house discussion on grievance procedure. Certain poetry, fine art competitions will also take place. With changing sessions, we will welcome inter college level Moot court with consumer court visit. An e-waste drive campaign is also an important task for which efforts are being put in by all the members so that it is completely successfully.
Satark is like a family where you learn from seniors and
teachers and keep growing your knowledge with the upcoming events. You will be regularly updated of the upcoming events of Satark and with
your active participation we hope to create as much awareness as possible.
In this delusional world, we as customers ought to be SATARK.
