TOXICITY- WE WEAR ON REGULAR BASIS

Come clean it ! Scrub it ! Perfume it !

Each day, we want to smell good and look nice and when we do, there is this sensation of inner and outer fulfilment but  just like all things too good to be true, chemical exposures are the ugly side of beauty products.

Due to the fact that only a portion of society is reached by established risk communication channels, everyday products may include a variety of dangerous compounds that go mostly unrecognized by customers. The chemicals added in beauty products give them their sought out texture and makes them worthwhile. Cosmetics are made from a range of ingredients which are so called industrial chemicals. Industrial chemicals can either be made artificially or organically and processed. It is the toxicity we wear on our faces and body happily and regularly.

Most chemicals in cosmetics pose little or no risk, some have been linked to serious health problems, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Many of the chemicals used today in various skincare and cosmetic products are gaining attention because of the negative effects it can have on our skin and health.  The following are some of the most damaging chemicals found in cosmetic products-

  • Mineral oil - Which is the base used for hair oils can cause Allergic Reactions, eye and Scalp Irritation, Acne Breakouts and can even cause cancer.

  • Paraben - Which is used as an ingredient for making beauty products can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs, affect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer.

  • Fragrances - These can be found in moisturizers, shampoos, conditioners, perfumes, and other skincare products. They contain compounds that have been linked to respiratory conditions, skin allergies, dermatitis, and adverse reproductive health impacts.

  • Triclosan - It is a common chemical found in tubes of toothpaste, antibacterial soaps and deodorants. It is effective against microbes (anti-bacterial in nature), but it is also an endocrine disruptor and a skin irritant.

In addition to infiltrating the fashion industry, cosmetics are now a significant part of daily life. Thus, it becomes imperative to make people aware of the various harmful effects of chemicals used in cosmetic products. So, this is the time to ask ourselves- ARE PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS PUTTING OUR HEALTH AT RISKS?

There is a huge difference between the label you read and the label you need .

Make sure to first peruse and then use the product.

STAY SMART AND STAY SATARK!
